York ready to release Courtney

York City are ready to release defender Duane Courtney, who only joined them from Kidderminster Harries five months ago. The 25-year-old has struggled to justify his arrival ever since and managed only seven senior appearances, more often than not losing out to emergency right-back Danny Parslow - by trade a central defender. New manager Gary Mills had already declared his intentions to cut his squad number and released former Sunderland striker David Dowson and youth team graduates Dean Lisles and Jamie Hopcutt only last week.“I’ve been here two weeks and it’s a decision I have made," Mills told The Press. "I’ve told him he won’t be travelling to Forest Green and it’s all about me putting together a squad that I think is right for this club going forward.“We have a lot of good players and I want all of them committed to this club and to enjoy doing their job.”
