York game not in doubt

27 February 2010 12:29
York City's game against Eastbourne Borough was expected to go ahead despite over an inch of rain falling yesterday. The club carried out an 8am pitch inspection this morning and while the surface was wet it was still ruled as playable. Late yesterday afternoon there had been standing water on approximately a third of the pitch. However, the drainage system has cleared this and only a few areas are still heavy. As the forecast for today is good with no rain expected, the game is not in any serious doubt.
