York expected to miss out on Tubbs

York City manager Martin Foyle is expected to miss out on one of his major summer transfer targets after it was reported that Salisbury City striker Matt Tubbs is set to sign for Blue Square Premier rivals Crawley Town. Tubbs struck 32 goals for Salisbury last season but was always expected to leave after the Wiltshire club were demoted by two division for finishing the campaign in administration. Foyle had been busily keeping a close watch on the situation and particularly the future of a 25-year-old player who has rattled in well over a century of goals in six years at the club. But it would seem that Tubbs' (far right) probable destination will be a rather unlikely setting of Crawley, who have apparently agrred to meet a £35,000 transfer fee and offer lucrative wage terms in order to get him to the Broadfield Stadium.“I’ve been chasing some very good players but some have proven out of our reach," Foyle told The Press.“Matt Tubbs is somebody I was interested in even before anybody knew what was going to happen to Salisbury but it looks like he’s on his way to Crawley now for £35,000 and fantastic wages.”
