York City v Tamworth

06 March 2012 15:43
Fourth-placed York City are in need of a major defensive reshuffle ahead of the arrival of Tamworth to Bootham Crescent on Tuesday evening (kick-off 7.45pm).

On loan centre-back Ben Gibson (hamstring) and the experienced Chris Doig (groin) are both ruled out after suffering injuries during the weekend victory against Hayes & Yeading United. Middlesbrough youngster Gibson [right] is likely to be sidelined for around three weeks having only recently arrived at the club. With skipper Chris Smith also suspended against his former club and long-serving David McGurk unavailable due to a recurrence of a throat problem, York boss Gary Mills was expected to give Jamal Fyfield a first start since Boxing Day alongside Daniel Parslow in the middle of defence.Mills will be hoping to avoid an unwelcome hat-trick after already losing both previous games against his one-time employers, who are themselves without defender Scott Barrow and Sam Oji and have midfielder Danny Thomas rated as doubtful. Duane Courtney should through recover in time to face his former colleagues.“I am just focused on the fact it’s a big league game in terms of us enhancing our position in the play-off places," Mills told The Press.“That’s all I am bothered about – nothing else. I don’t want to talk about my old club, just the importance of getting a result.  “It would be fantastic to pull a bit further away from two or three clubs. We had the chance to take advantage of a game in hand when we played Gateshead but did not do that. “We’ve got to 60 points and I want to be on 63 at 10pm tonight."
