York City v Stockport County

York City have midfielder Scott Brown back in their squad for the visit of struggling Stockport County to Bootham Crescent this weekend.

Former Fleetwood Town schemer Brown [right] has missed the last three games through suspension after recently being sent-off in the league against Ebbsfleet United. The Minstermen beat those same opponents in midweek to progress through to the last eight of the FA Trophy in a game which marked the return from injury of leading scorer Jason Walker, who actually missed a late penalty.Latest loan signing Ben Gibson was ineligible for that tie but is now in contention following his arrival last week from Middlesbrough, while fellow newcomers Ben Swallow, Erik Tonne and Chris Doig were each handed debuts and will be hoping to continue. The Minstermen's only current absentee is experienced defender David McGurk - still out with knee trouble.“We are entering a big, big stage of the season and we are looking to take 12 points from those next four home games or, if not, no less than ten to stay in those play-off positions," York manager Gary Mills told The Press. "We’ve got 15 league games to go and, while to pick up 45 points from those matches would be an absolute miracle, we’ve got to try to get as many as we can.“This is a massive week for us. We’ve got two big league games with a massive six points available followed by a Trophy quarter-final.” Stockport are actually unbeaten in four games despite their lowly league position and were expected to rely on the side held by ten-man Newport County in midweek.
