York City v Southport

23 November 2010 17:39
York City face struggling Southport at Bootham Crescent tonight aiming for a rise into mid-table following their convincing weekend 4-0 away victory over Rushden & Diamonds. Manager Gary Mills is set to name an unchanged side from that which won so well at Nene Park, where Danny Racchi, Michael Rankine, Ashley Chambers and Neil Barrett were all on target. Both Djoumin Sangare (right) and David McDermott were expected to show no ill-effects from knocks suffered during that game."There are lots of incentives tonight. I want to get into the top half of the table, win three games on the trot and enjoy another home victory," Mills told The Press. "Southport are a hard-working side though who know what their limitations are. Having come from a club like that in Tamworth, I know all about their mindset and we will have to more than match their work ethic. "If we can then, with the players in our side, we can pick up three points," he added. "You have to be patient against teams that line up defensively and, ideally, you want to get an early goal because that opens up the match. We`ve got to try to get on the front foot straight away and dominate the game."Southport will be without their leading goalscorer Matty McNeil (hamstring) and winger Matty McGinn (suspension), while transfer-listed skipper Adam Flynn is similarly unlikely to appear.
