York City v Hayes & Yeading United

03 March 2012 13:16
Skipper Chris Smith begins a two-match suspension and is ruled out for the visit of relegation-threatened Hayes & Yeading United to Bootham Crescent.

The former Mansfield Town defender [right] will be replaced by either Daniel Parslow, Ben Gibson or Jamal Fyfield after fellow centre-back David McGurk was sidelined for another three weeks with a recurrence of throat trouble. The 29-year-old was only just recovering from a knee injury."We've enjoyed the [FA Trophy] win at Grimsby but that's gone now," York manager Gary Mills told BBC Radio York."We know the draw and when that comes round we'll enjoy that and get ourselves to Wembley."But we also know our commitments and all the hard work we've put in league wise to maintain a play-off place, to maintain our push for promotion."It's more vital than anything. So back to work and ready to beat Hayes and Yeading." Hayes were likely to rely on the side that recently defeated fellow strugglers Bath City, although defender Jordan Rose has since moved on to Stockport County.  But on loan Charlton Athletic midfielder Freddie Warren was hopeful of earning a debut.
