York City v Grimsby Town

York City have Republic of Ireland Under-21 international Lanre Oyebanjo back in their squad for the visit of Grimsby Town to Bootham Crescent this weekend.

The 21-year-old right-back featured in a behind-closed-doors friendly with Newcastle United in midweek after recovering from a hamstring injury suffered at Tamworth in mid-September. But he faces a battle to reclaim his starting place as midfielder Jon Challinor has performed well since being switched into defence.“Lanre got an hour against Newcastle and he came through fine," manager Gary Mills confirmed to The Press.“It was good for him to get some game time and some air in his lungs. He’s got a big battle on to get back into the team though because I think Jon Challinor has been one of our most consistent players over the last month.“He’s been good in all areas week in, week out. He’s been strong defensively and doesn’t give anything away, as well as being comfortable going forward.”  Mills will also consider the claims of centre-back David McGurk after recently completing a one-match ban for receiving his fifth caution of the campaign, particularly as York have managed only four clean sheets so far this season. Winger Serge Makofo is doubtful for the visitors after picking up an injury in midweek, while defender Jamie Green is back in training following hamstring trouble but unlikely to play.
