York City v Gateshead

22 February 2012 15:39
York City are firmly committed to building upon their late weekend victory over Stockport County as former leaders Gateshead visit Bootham Crescent for a live televised clash (kick-off 7.30pm) .

The Minstermen were eventually reliant on a couple of late efforts from substitutes Jamie Reed [right] and Matthew Blinkhorn against a plucky Stockport side and both are in contention for recalls against tenth-placed Gateshead.Defender David McGurk is, however, already definitely ruled out for the home side through injury while latest loan arrival Ben Gibson is again standing by to replace the doubtful James Meredith."There'll be a lot of people saying we owe these one because they beat us at their place. We've got to turn that round for a lot of reasons," York boss Gary Mills told BBC Radio York."We're six points ahead of them. We win tomorrow night we go nine points ahead."At this stage of the season with a team that's looking to get into the play-offs like Gateshead are, it's a massive leap for us and a massive step." Gateshead were expected to welcome back leading goalscorer Jon Shaw after missing their weekend defeat at Forest Green Rovers with a groin problem. But Liam Hatch, Jamie Chandler and Nathan Fisher are once more confirmed absentees.
