Defensive stalwart David McGurk returns to the squad for York City's home game with fourth-placed Braintree Town this weekend.

The former Darlington centre-back missed last week's 2-1 victory at Stockport County due to serving a one-match ban for accruing five yellow cards.Meanwhile, midfielder Andre Boucaud has recovered from the groin problem which forced him off during the first-half at Edgeley Park.

Otherwise, right-back Lanre Oyebanjo is still ruled out with a hamstring injury and Jon Challinor should again deputise.“They’ve surprised everybody," York manager Gary Mills told The Press.

“I don’t think they’ve feared anyone and sometimes that works. Some teams start the season in the same manner that they finished the last one and they’ve done that very well.“It’s a massive match because they’re two points ahead of us so, if we beat them, we go above them.” Braintree are already lacking striker Chib Chilaka and will need late checks on defenders Matt Paine (groin) and Ryan Peters (calf), in addition to midfielder Nicky Symons (ankle).
