York City v Altrincham

York City have the chance to further consolidate their top-five position when Altrincham visit Bootham Crescent on Easter Monday. Manager Martin Foyle has a full-strength squad to choose from, with only defender Djoumin Sangare a slight concern after being forced out of their recent victory at Grays Athletic. He would probably be replaced by David McGurk. Top scorer Richard Brodie scored twice in the comfortable 4-0 success at Grays to finally end a barren run that had lasted eleven matches, while Paul Harsley (right) registered his first goal for the club and fellow schemer Neil Barrett was also on target. The Minstermen are currently seven points clear of sixth-placed AFC Wimbledon, who actually visit Bootham Crescent in a vital rearranged game on Wednesday evening. The Dons now appear the only club able to catch York following recent defeats for Kettering Town and Mansfield Town. However, manager Martin Foyle was hoping to confirm a play-off place at the earliest opportunity, while he was also targeting a move above currently fourth-placed Rushden & Diamonds in the table. That would see the Minstermen avoid the eventual Blue Square Premier runners-up in their play-off semi-final.“When the fixtures came out, we had a little chuckle at the Stevenage away match, thinking it would be tough going there needing points to get in the play-offs, but I would have taken that back in the summer," he told The Press.“Now, we would like a top-five place cemented as soon as possible. We’ve then got to try and get ahead of Rushden.“That would be the next hurdle and it’s possible, but the first aim is to make sure we’re in the play-offs.” The visitors have concerns over three players ahead of the trip, with Robbie Lawton (ankle) and Chris Denham (calf) adding to Nicky Clee, who missed their weekend triumph over Kidderminster Harriers.
