York enjoy home victory over Notts County

York registered back-to-back home wins for the first time this season by beating Notts County 2-1.

First-half goals from Michael Coulson and Bradley Fewster put the Minstermen in the driving seat.

But a Lubo Satka own goal just past the hour mark made it a nervous finale for the hosts, who held on for three vital points that lifted the club off the bottom of the Sky Bet League Two table.

Jon Stead hit the bar for County as the visitors made the early running but it was York who forged in front on 24 minutes.

Coulson raced on to Cameron's long ball out of defence before beating Roy Carroll with his perfectly-measured 15-yard lob.

The Minstermen went on to double their advantage on 39 minutes with a brilliant team goal.

A flowing passing move ended with Russell Penn's backheel releasing Kenny McEvoy down the right and his low cross was turned in from a couple of yards by Fewster.

On-loan Newcastle defender Satka's attempted headed backpass from Liam Noble's right-wing cross sailed over home keeper Scott Flinders to reduce the deficit on 63 minutes, but County could not force an equaliser.
