McGurk claims late point

Substitute Adam McGurk grabbed an 87th-minute equaliser to earn Burton a point at York in a 1-1 draw.

Home debutant Emile Sinclair had earlier given the Minstermen a 70th-minute lead but they were denied a second home win of the campaign.

York's best first-half chances fell to Sinclair, whose fourth-minute shot on the turn was well saved by Brewers keeper Jon McLaughlin.

The ex-Northampton forward also shot narrowly over from 25 yards while, at the other end, home keeper Bobby Olejnik denied Jacob Blyth from Stuart Beavon's low left-wing cross.

After the restart, Blyth lifted a six-yard chance wastefully over at the far post before York broke the deadlock.

Malvind Benning's free-kick found Michael Coulson on the edge of the penalty box and his cross was then headed towards the far post by Jake Hyde, where John McCombe helped the ball back into the six-yard box for Sinclair to net.

A smart save by McLaughlin kept out a rising Coulson drive before McGurk curled in his equaliser, finding Olejnik's bottom left-hand corner from 15 yards.
