Minstermen and Dale share spoils

Rochdale missed out on the chance to gain a valuable three points in their League Two promotion push following a 0-0 draw at York.

The Minstermen went close to opening the scoring in the early stages, with top-scorer Ryan Jarvis heading straight at Josh Lillis from Josh Carson's cross before turning Ashley Chambers' delivery wide at the near post.

Rochdale hit back immediately and nearly capitalised with a quickly-taken free-kick as Matty Lund played in Graham Cummins but his effort flew wide of Aaron McCarey's post.

The visitors were starting to come more into the game as the half wore on and Andrew Tutte saw his effort from the edge of the area comfortably collected by McCarey.

Within 90 seconds of the restart York had genuine penalty claims after Jarvis tumbled to the ground under the challenge of Michael Rose but they were waved away by the referee.

York nearly grabbed a winner late on through Jarvis but his effort was blocked by the feet of Lillis as honours ended even.
