Wrexham 2 York City 1

A late own-goal from recalled defender David McGurk eventually decided this FA Cup fourth qualifying round tie between the two Blue Square Bet Premier promotion chasers at the Racecourse Ground.

Wrexham took the lead after a poor opening half of decidedly few chances when Nathaniel Knight-Percival headed in Joe Clarke's inviting 50th minute free-kick at the near post. The Minstermen had made seven changes from the side which had recently won at Hayes & Yeading United, but were back level eight minutes later as Patrick McLaughlin swept a free-kick past the defensive wall from the edge of the area. Both sides remained determined to settle the tie on the day in order to avoid a midway replay ahead of their crucial forthcoming league meeting at Bootham Crescent next weekend. York's full debutant Liam Henderson and Dragons midfielder Clarke each threatened at their respective ends. And it was Wrexham who grabbed the all-important goal with eight minutes remaining after the introduction of caretaker manager Andy Morrell as his cross was diverted into his own net by the unfortunate McGurk.Wrexham: Mayebi, Obeng, Ashton, Creighton, Knight-Percival, Harris (Fowler 83), Clarke, Hunt, Cieslewicz, Speight (Wright 70), Pogba (Morrell 77)subs (unused): Maxwell, Clowes, Westwood, LittleGoals: Knight-Percival (49), McGurk OG (82)York City: Ingham, Oyebanjo, Parslow, McGurk, Meredith, Kerr,  Potts (Challinor 77), McLaughlin, Reed (Blair 68), Henderson, Moké (Chambers 68)subs (unused): Musselwhite, Smith, Fyfield, Boucaud Goals: McLaughlin (58)Ref: J.
