York City are ready to appoint the vastly experienced Paul Musselwhite as their new goalkeeping coach. The 42-year-old would also provide valuable cover for first-choice keeper Michael Ingham. Musselwhite has spent the past couple of seasons with Lincoln City after earlier spells with Scunthorpe United, Port Vale, Hull City, Kettering Town and Gateshead. He has made in excess of 700 appearances during a career spanning 25 years after starting out as an apprentice at Portsmouth. His arrival would signal the departure of current goalkeeping coach Andy Leaning in addition to Ingham's latest deputy David Knight, who spent the whole of last season on loan from Histon.Portsmouth-born Musselwhite is already well regarded as a coach with current Notts County stopper Rob Burch describing his as one of the best in the business. He was also a very popular member of the squad at Sincil Bank and a major influence on the training ground.  However, he was recently told that his services would only be retained by the Red Imps should regular goalkeeper Joe Anyon leave the club.Musselwhite would therefore be teaming up once again with his former Lincoln team-mate Scott Kerr at Bootham Crescent.
