Stevenage Borough v York City

York City manager Martin Foyle will be simply concentrating on getting through his side's final game of their Blue Square Premier programme without any serious mishaps at new champions Stevenage Borough. The real test for the Minstermen follows five days later when either Luton Town or Oxford United roll into the famous old city for their play-off semi-final first-leg at Bootham Crescent. And while Foyle has already stated that his team really needed a game this weekend as some form of preparation for the challenges to follow, he has also conceded that its outcome is largely irrelevant in the grander scheme of things.“The atmosphere at Stevenage tomorrow will be a bit like our last home game with Player of the Year awards and a carnival feeling," he told The Press.“They might take their minds off the game and I don’t think it will be a decent match necessarily.“It’s one in which the result doesn’t matter. We are already in the play-offs and the priority is to keep everybody clear of injury and red cards.” The York boss does have the benefit of a full-squad to choose from after centre-back Djoumin Sangare returned to regular training, but also the worry that leading scorer Richard Brodie is only three cautions away from another suspension and so could technically still miss any final. However, the 33-goal marksman has settled down rather in recent weeks and Foyle believes he can deal with his current situation without too many problems.“He’s done what I’ve asked him to do and been on 12 bookings for a long time," he added. "I have been pleased with his attitude and it hasn’t affected his form.“He’s settled down and is playing in a relaxed manner again after all the yellow cards and transfer speculation.” Stevenage rested five players in midweek for their 1-0 victory at lowly Gateshead. But manager Graham Westley could decide to go back to his first-choice eleven as preparation for a forthcoming Wembley date against Barrow in the FA Trophy final.
