Spring Raffle 2010
It's that time of year when York Minstermen's attention turns to the annual Spring Raffle. In the last few years, it has proved to be an excellent fundraiser benefiting many worthy causes at York City Football Club, including the Youth Team, the Centre of Excellence and York City in the Community. Hopefully, this year will be no different. This year's first prize is £250. How would you spend that prize money? A 2010/11 York City season ticket, spending money for your summer holiday or on a trip to Wembley? We always receive some fantastic consolation prize donations from a variety of businesses and this year is no different. So far, we have prizes supplied by York City Football Club, York Boat, Melton's / Melton's Too, York Racecourse, Aerial Extreme, Ripon Racecourse, Jorvik, Eden Camp, City Screen, the Thackray Museum and many more to be confirmed. Look out for updates between now and the end of the season. As in previous years, we are hoping that hundreds of our fellow City fans will help to sell tickets to friends, family and work colleagues. In 2009, we were so lucky to have the support of people like Mark Benson, who sold over £200 worth of tickets with his enthusiastic approach. Further away, Steve McVeighty (known to many City fans as Raz) regularly manages to sell well over £100 worth on the Isle of Man. Although it is wonderful to have a few more ticket sellers like Mark and Raz, we value every single ticket that is sold. It is greatly appreciated if you can just sell £5 worth. If 2,000 City fans sold that many tickets, we would raise £10,000. Over the next few weeks, envelopes containing raffle tickets and instructions will be posted to several hundred known supporters around the country. These are people who have supported York Minstermen's fundraising efforts in the past. If you don't receive any tickets through the post but would like to help with this fundraiser, it is easy to obtain tickets.
