North Ferriby United v York City

07 August 2010 00:19
York City's pre-season programme continues with a trip to North Ferriby United on Saturday afternoon (kick-off 1pm). The Minstermen are expected to have Duane Courtney and Greg Young (below) available after missing most of their friendlies to date through injury. Courtney has been sidelined with a knee problem and Young with a bruised foot, but both recent signings are set to be included after returning to training. "They both trained yesterday so we will see if they have any reactions today but, fingers crossed, they will be involved in some capacity," assistant manager Andy Porter confirmed to the The Press. The visitors will also be keen to see their strikers getting their names on the scoresheet as only Richard Brodie has netted for them in open play during their six pre-season fixtures so far. Michael Rankine has managed a single goal from the penalty spot, while Michael Gash and newcomer George Purcell are yet to open their accounts."It`s always nice to see names on the scoresheet and, hopefully, there will be a few more tomorrow," continued Porter. "The gaffer has been doing a bit of work with the strikers this week so we`re hoping that will be seen in the next two games."That second game will witness York travelling to Ilkeston Town on Monday evening (kick-off 7.30pm) in another hastily arranged practice match."We`ve still not decided who will play against Kidderminster so we will look at it against North Ferriby and Ilkeston and perhaps make up our minds on Tuesday," Porter added. "We are hoping to get 90 minutes out of the players who need full matches."
