Minstermen delight in Blair signing

York City boss Gary Mills is delighted with the recent capture of Kidderminster Harriers winger Matty Blair. The 21-year-old pace merchant turned down the offer of a new contract at Kidderminster in favour of joining the Minstermen on a two-year deal. He scored eleven times for Harriers last term.“I’m delighted we’ve brought Matty in because he’s a player I’ve had my eye on for a couple of years and he’s developed well," Mills told The Press. "He had a fantastic campaign last season in our division. He’s a good age at 21 and there were a few clubs after him.“He’s a wide player with pace and is hungry to do well and further his career," he added. "For me, that type of player is imperative for what we want to achieve next season so to get him on a two-year contract is fantastic.“It’s no secret we were lacking in goals from the area he plays in last season. I need my wide men to weigh in with the system I want to play and it’s a problem that I think he can address.” Blair now links up with fellow recent signings Ashley Chambers and Liam Henderson at Bootham Crescent.
