Skipper Chris Smith headed a last-minute equaliser for York City in a 1-1 pre-season friendly draw against FC Halifax Town at The Shay Stadium. The Minstermen had trailed since the 26th minute after defender Danny Lowe lashed the home side in front.Halifax are newly promoted to Blue Square Bet North and were fully committed throughout against their higher-ranked local rivals.York goalkeeper Michael Ingham was forced to deny both James Dean and Liam Needham before Lowe drilled his side ahead midway through the first-half.Former Northern Ireland international Ingham also had to deal with a powerful 30-yard free-kick from goalscorer Lowe prior to the break.Making changes for the second period, York began to get much more into it with Ashley Chambers, Adriano Moké, Jason Walker and Patrick McLaughlin each having efforts before Ingham thwarted Scott Spender at the opposite end.Walker also had a real chance when his attempt was diverted wide by Aaron Hardy before Smith produced an excellent header from Moké's 90th minute cross to finally save face for the visitors.FC Halifax Town: Eastwood, Hardy, Lowe, L.
