Gateshead v York City

27 September 2011 15:13
York City should name an unchanged starting line-up for their visit to joint-leaders Gateshead at the International Stadium.

The Minstermen have easily dethroned leaders Wrexham and Luton Town either side of an entertaining 2-2 home draw with Darlington during the past ten days and will look to make it a hat-trick tonight against further north-east opposition.Gary Mills' side have a particularly impressive record against Gateshead at this level having won all four of their previous meetings over the past couple of seasons. However, the York chief was certainly expecting a tough battle this time around: “Gateshead haven’t surprised me and I think they’ll still be up there at the end of the season," he told The Press.“They were a good side last season and Ian Bogie got them promoted the same season I went up with Tamworth so I know what they’re about.“They’re always a good football side and very organised. He’s also recruited well and I know they will get the ball down like ourselves and play in a similar fashion.“We will have to go and beat a good side if we are to take maximum points.”

Gateshead will include ten-goal former York striker Jon Shaw [inset] and ex-City left-back Chris Carruthers, who was released from Bootham Crescent at the end of last season.
