Foyle slams transfer speculation

York City manager Martin Foyle has played down speculation over leading marksman Richard Brodie and recent signing Jonathan Smith moving away from Bootham Crescent. Brodie scored 37 goals for the Minstermen last term and has been regularly linked with a number of clubs ever since, including Sheffield United, Huddersfield Town, Nottingham Forest and most recently Crawley Town. And while Smith (right) only signed a two-year contract with York earlier this month after arriving from Forest Green Rovers, there have been some suggestions that the 23-year-old had suddenly changed his mind on the deal and was instead on his way to Rotherham United.  "There`s no substance in all the rumours about Richard Brodie and he will start the season at York City," Foyle told The Press."I hope this stops all the speculation as I fear that it can be disruptive to season-ticket sales."Jonathan Smith has been training with me all week, he has signed a two-year deal here, will play against Hull and kick off the season at York City," he added.
