York City boss Martin Foyle has signed former Burnely defender Duane Courtney from Blue Square Premier rivals Kidderminster Harriers. The 25-year-old made 39 appearances for Harriers last season following his arrival from League of Wales club TNS in July 2009. After starting his career at youth level with hometown club Birmingham City and Derby County, he moved onto AFC Telford United in August 2004 and ended as their 'Player of the Year' before soon earning a £25,000 transfer to Burnley.Courtney made eight senior appearances in ten months for the Clarets until switching to Welsh side TNS, where he was a virtual ever-present for next two seasons. From there he arrived at Kidderminster and proceeded to feature both at right-back and in central defence for the Aggborough club. The Minstermen were increasingly keen to strengthen their options at the back following right-back Ben Purkiss' departure to Oxford United last week, and the continuing uncertainty over the future of his central defensive colleague Luke Graham.
