York City manager Martin Foyle paid special tribute to his strikers following the emphatic 5-0 thrashing of play-off rivals AFC Wimbledon on Wednesday night. Michael Rankine set the home side on their way inside the first minute before Richard Brodie raised his personal overall tally for the season to the magical thirty mark, courtesy of his second hat-trick of the campaign. Rankine later added his second goal of the contest and ninth for the club since arriving last summer. The Minstermen's triumph confirmed their position in the play-offs later this month. "The front two were unstoppable starting off from the kick-off when Michael Rankine (right) scored in the opening minute," Foyle told The Press."It`s a magnificent achievement to get into the play-offs and anything can happen in those games," he added."The likes of Oxford and Luton will be under immense pressure at home."Wimbledon boss Terry Brown also acknowledged the danger of York's front pairing.“We actually played some decent football but we couldn’t handle their two strikers in our box," he told South London Today.
