Five released by York manager Mills

York City manager Gary Mills has announced that five players are leaving the club. The Minstermen have decided to release midfielders Chris Carruthers, Levi Mackin and Neil Barrett [right], who all appeared in their play-of final defeat to Oxford United thirteen months ago.Also leaving Bootham Crescent is striker Leon Constantine and young defender Liam Darville.Meanwhile, a sixth out-of-contract player, David McDermott, will be given the chance to impress during pre-season. York open their friendly campaign at Tadcaster Albion in a fortnight.Mills has so far brought six new players to the club since the end of last season after 19-year-old former Blackburn Rovers midfielder Michael Potts signed a two-year deal. He joins Ashley Chambers, Liam Henderson, Matty Blair, Jason Walker and Paul Musselwhite, while York are also expecting to sign a new right-back by the weekend.
