York City could have central defenders David McGurk and Greg Young in their squad for the visit of Morecambe to Bootham Crescent this afternoon (kick-off 3pm). Experienced campaigner McGurk (calf) and new signing Young (bruising) have missed both of York's two pre-season games so far but are close to finally getting their season's underway. Former Walsall winger Peter Till has also recovered from a recent sickness bug and is expected to return, although ex-Kidderminster Harriers right-back Duane Courtney (knee) is still absent.Midfielder Chris Carruthers (right) misses out, however, after suffering a slight groin strain in the midweek defeat to Barnsley."Greg Young is a bit of a battler and he can`t wait to play," assistant manager Andy Porter told The Press. "With TY [McGurk] we will have to see how he reacts from training. Fingers crossed, he might make 45 minutes and Greg could also possibly play 45 after seeing how he reacts," he continued."We are not going to risk them [if they aren`t fit]. We have got enough games and, if we need another, we will fit it in."Recent trialist Steven Drench definitely won't be involved against his former club as the Minstermen have decided to release him.But fellow goalkeeper David Knight is still being assessed whilst the club are also hoping to sort out a deal for trialist winger David McDermott.
