City trial for McDermott

Kidderminster Harriers winger David McDermott is joining York City on trial ahead of the start of their pre-season programme this weekend. The 22-year-old former Walsall forward has cut short a similar arrangement at Aggborough Stadium, where injuries and illness have restricted him to just 25 starts over the course of the past two seasons. "Since I came here last season David has hardly played any football, through no fault of his own, so it was obviously the most we as a club could offer him; the chance to come back and show us what he could do," Kidderminster manager Steve Burr told his club's official website."But he is a free agent and it is his right to decide where he wants to try and earn a contract," he continued."As far as I know he has not been offered anything concrete by York so we're disappointed to see him go - especially as we offered him the same chance straight after the end of the season - but we wish him good luck."The Minstermen open their pre-season programme with a visit from Championship club Hull City this weekend.
