York City midfielder Jon Challinor says he wants to prove he is worth a longer deal after joining on non-contract terms from Kettering last week. The 30-year-old played 17 times for Kettering, also on non-contract terms. He told BBC Radio York: "It's down to me to prove myself and try to earn that extra deal."That's best for me because it will make me work hard. I want to stay here. The club is pushing for promotion and it's what I want to see."He continued: "Last Tuesday I was a Kettering Town player. We played against York. I came on, did OK, and [York boss] Gary Mills liked what he'd seen."I had a phone call on Wednesday, a whirlwind few days and here I am now."It's down to me to prove the point that I can still play at this level."
