Leading scorer Richard Brodie escaped serious injury after being involved in a road accident last week. The incident took place close to Brodie's home in Gateshead on Thursday evening, when he was knocked down by a car. However, none the worse for his ordeal, Brodie still went on to claim his 33rd goal of the season in a 1-1 draw against Grays Athletic two days later.“I had a little accident on Thursday night back home," Brodie told The Press. "I got hit by a car and ended up on the floor banging my forearm and bashing my wrist, as well as getting a few cuts and bruises.“Fortunately, nothing was coming behind the car that hit me, otherwise I could have been a goner.”
