Barrow plan pitch inspection

Barrow are to hold a morning pitch inspection to determine whether their FA Trophy quarter-final against York City will go ahead. However, club officials remain hopeful that the pitch will hold up against the conditions and that the game can take place as scheduled. And the Cumbrians have boosted the chances of that happening by covering an area of their Holker Street pitch."With temperatures forecast to drop as low as -4 overnight, the area of the pitch that lies in the shadow of the Wilkie Stand has been covered with sheets over a 50m x 10m area," Barrow's official website reported. "The pitch which was frozen overnight has thawed out well during the day, and the covers have been laid in an attempt to protect the most vulnerable part of the ground from the anticipated freezing conditions."
