York City have signed Kettering striker Moses Ashikodi on loan until January.

City will then review the situation with the 24-year-old after that period and decide whether to extend the deal.Manager Gary Mills told BBC Radio York: "He's a goal scorer and a good player and he's an age where he needs to show what a good player he is."I feel coming to York will be the perfect place for him to come and prove that and with that alone it will improve us as a squad."He made the headlines after coming to blows with John-Paul Marna in the closing stages of Kettering's defeat by Hayes & Yeading in September after a dispute over who would take a penalty. The player was one of 11 then transfer listed by Kettering for a combination of footballing and financial reasons. And York's troubled Blue Square Bet Premier rivals have since transfer-listed the rest of their squad.Mills added: "We've been talking about it (signing Ashikodi) for a couple of months."We've been quoted silly money which was never going to happen and that was stalling the move."The chance to get him on loan, bring him in and see where we go from there, was a great opportunity so that's what we've done."He'll be a good asset straight away for us. He's delighted to be with us and starting work."Source: BBC Sport
