Gillett set for Glovers role

Yeovil could hand a debut to Simon Gillett against his former club Doncaster.

The midfielder, who played for Rovers for three years, signed a two-year deal with the Glovers on Thursday after impressing during pre-season and he looks set to make the matchday squad.

Fellow summer signing James Berrett could also be involved but looks unlikely to start having played for just 80 minutes since returning from a thigh strain.

Gary Johnson has a striking dilemma after James Hayter and Sam Hoskins both grabbed hat-tricks in a friendly victory on Monday night. Johnson also has Kieffer Moore and AJ Leitch-Smith pushing for starts.

Jamie McCombe looks like being the only absentee for Doncaster when they begin life back in Sky Bet League One at Huish Park.

McCombe will not travel despite the central defender being given the all-clear following a stress reaction in his back.

Captain Rob Jones is working his way back to fitness after a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a neck injury but it remains to be seen whether he will be involved just yet.

Summer signings Jed Steer, Reece Wabara, Cedric Evina, Nathan Tyson and Curtis Main are all in contention but midfielder Richie Wellens and full-back Paul Quinn are looking for new clubs after activating relegation release clauses in their contracts and will not be selected by Rovers boss Paul Dickov.
