Glovers wait on Compton

Yeovil boss Paul Sturrock will run the rule over winger Jack Compton ahead of Bristol Rovers' visit to Huish Park.

The 26-year-old, who joined the Glovers this summer following his departure from Hartlepool, has been struggling with a calf injury but he could recover in time to play some part on Saturday.

On-loan Bournemouth youngster Harry Cornick could be handed his first league start after he played 90 minutes of his side's defeat to QPR in the Capital One Cup in midweek.

This match will come too soon for Jordan Gibbons, who faces another two weeks on the sidelines with a groin injury.

Midfielder Chris Lines could be back in contention for Rovers' appointment with their West Country rivals.

Lines has been sidelined due to a foot injury, but he is expected to be available for Saturday, while Lee Mansell is also on the comeback trail and might give Rovers a further boost.

Rovers boss Darrell Clarke is backing his players despite seeing them start the season with successive league and cup defeats against Northampton and Birmingham.

"I have great belief in the players I have here, and I just want them to believe in themselves a little more. We have a few lads who have not operated at this level before, but I know they have what it takes to handle it," Clarke told www.bristolpost.co.uk.
