Late Brad Walker goal sets up Hartlepool win at Yeovil

Hartlepool scored seven minutes from time to secure a 2-1 win against Yeovil at Huish Park.

Goals from Scott Fenwick and Brad Walker proved enough after Ryan Bird had levelled for the home side.

Following an uneventful start, the game came to life on the half-hour mark.

Yeovil defender Jakub Sokolik clashed with opposition striker Billy Paynter, with the former appearing to kick out at the Pools attacker. Referee Frederick Graham awarded a free-kick for the initial foul but no further action was taken.

However, Hartlepool took the lead from the resulting set-piece when Jake Carroll's cross was diverted into the back of the net by Fenwick in the 32nd minute.

Yeovil equalised five minutes later when Nathan Smith slid in Jack Howells on the left, who in turn crossed for Bird to score at the back post.

In the second half, Matt Dolan tested visiting goalkeeper Adam Bartlett with a well-struck free-kick but Pools scored the decisive goal on 83 minutes.

Kudus Oyenuga's mis-hit shot fell nicely for substitute Walker to tap in at the back post and the 79 travelling fans could celebrate victory before embarking on a 335-mile trip home.
