Yeovil and AFC Wimbledon share spoils in 1-1 draw

AFC Wimbledon battled back from a goal down to get a deserved point in a 1-1 draw with Yeovil at Huish Park.

Ryan Bird's 26th-minute opener was cancelled out by Adebayo Akinfenwa's header 11 minutes from time.

The Dons could consider themselves unlucky not to win having had the better chances and dominated possession for large periods.

George Francomb and Tom Elliott both tested Yeovil goalkeeper Artur Krysiak in the first five minutes.

The home side fought back and took the lead in the 26th minute when Connor Roberts' long throw was flicked on by Omar Sowunmi for strike partner Bird to head home from close range.

Wimbledon were then the width of a post from equalising just before half-time but Jake Reeves' excellent run was not matched by his finish with Krysiak well-beaten.

Reeves was causing all sorts of problems for the Yeovil defence and his 57th-minute corner was headed against the crossbar by Paul Robinson.

Wimbledon's pressure finally told in the 79th minute when Francomb's corner was headed into the back of the net by Akinfenwa.

Despite three late chances for substitute Adebayo Azeez and seven minutes of added time, Yeovil held on for an unlikely point.
