Glovers see off Crawley

Yeovil booked their place in the FA Cup second round draw with a comfortable 1-0 victory over Crawley.

The League One strugglers had the chance to forget their recent woes against fellow third-tier opposition and were much the better side throughout.

Yeovil almost went ahead inside two minutes when star man Sam Foley cut in from the left and curled a right-footed shot onto the post.

Gary Johnson's men did take the lead with just seven minutes on the clock when Manchester City loanee Jordy Hiwula out-muscled the dithering Joe Walsh and rounded Jamie Ashdown to roll home his first senior goal.

Former Glover Matt Harrold had the visitors' best chance of the first half but his shot from distance fizzed wide.

Crawley could have equalised from the head of Izale McLeod who had beaten keeper Jed Steer to the ball but he saw his effort sail over on the hour mark.

In the end, the visitors gave Yeovil little concern over their second-round spot.
