Luke O'Nien nets superb winner for Wycombe as Yeovil slip to foot of the table

A moment of magic from Luke O'Nien fired Wycombe to a 1-0 win at Yeovil to help send the Glovers bottom of the Football League.

O'Nien powered an unstoppable 70th-minute shot past Chris Weale from 25 yards out to extend the Chairboys' unbeaten run to four matches and leave them outside the play-offs only on goal difference.

Both sides had their goalkeepers to thank for keeping the final score to a single goal in what was an evenly contested match.

Weale made two crucial first-half stops from Wycombe forward Garry Thompson, while Matt Ingram produced a wonder save to keep out Yeovil top scorer Ryan Bird's close-range volley.

Until the goal, the main talking point had come in the 19th minute, when Wycombe's appeals for a penalty were turned down after O'Nien was adjudged to have gone down too easily rounding Weale.

But the midfielder's memorable late strike ensured he would be his side's hero at Huish Park.
