Fleetwood snatch the points

Fleetwood stole a smash and grab 1-0 victory at Yeovil thanks to a solitary Jeff Hughes goal to dump the former Championship club to the foot of the table.

The Cod Army had stopper Chris Maxwell to thank for the half-time scoreline remaining goalless.

The Welsh under-21 keeper was equal to Jordy Hiwula's jinking run and strike and was called into action again when Ajay Leitch-Smith cut in from the left, beat two defenders and unleashed a strike destined for the top corner.

Glovers keeper Jed Steer had little to do in the first half, but as much as the Somerset side were in the ascendency, Fleetwood grew into the second period which was bereaved of clear-cut chances.

James Berrett curled a well-struck effort for Yeovil which seemed destined for the top corner on 79 minutes but Maxwell was again equal to it.

And Graham Alexander's men bagged an unlikely winner when Steven Schumacher's corner found Hughes who headed in via a post.
