Rovers take late derby spoils

Ellis Harrison's late strike for Bristol Rovers secured a 1-0 victory and bragging rights over ten-man Yeovil in a tightly-contested West Country derby.

Yeovil were reduced to ten men when Matty Dolan saw red in the second half but Rovers left it late to take advantage at Huish Park.

Former Exeter stopper Artur Krysiak was the more involved of the two keepers, denying efforts from Harrison and Ollie Clarke.

Krysiak was again in the thick of it before the break, stopping Matty Taylor from giving Rovers a half-team lead.

Dolan almost fired the hosts ahead just two minutes into the second half, but Rovers' new loan signing Aaron Chapman produced a fine save to his left.

However, the former Bradford midfielder made the task much trickier for the Glovers on 64 minutes when he was shown a second yellow card for a late trip on Daniel Leadbitter.

The visitors piled on the pressure and Harrison finally proved the difference in the 87th minute when his hooked effort left Paul Sturrock's Glovers pointless after two games and Bristol Rovers with their first win of the campaign.
