Yeovil 0-0 Oxford Utd: Match Report

Plenty of action but no goals as struggling Yeovil hold high-flying Oxford

Two sides fighting at opposite ends of the Sky Bet League Two table met at Huish Park and served up an entertaining end-to-end encounter that ended 0-0.

Yeovil nearly took the lead on 18 minutes when Josh Sheehan rattled the bar from 20 yards with Oxford goalkeeper Sam Slocombe beaten.

Four minutes later, Shaun Jeffers had an even better chance to open the scoring for the home side. The striker latched onto Francois Zoko's through ball but saw his goal-bound effort well saved by Slocombe.

At the other end, Callum O'Dowda missed two presentable opportunities for the U's as he headed wide from close range and then narrowly fired over in a good position.

Goalless at half-time, Kemar Roofe, a danger all afternoon, pounced on confusion in the Yeovil backline to fire a shot towards goal, only for Glovers goalkeeper Artur Krysiak to save with his legs.

Chances were coming thick and fast for Oxford but they could not convert. A battling defensive display in the closing stages saw Yeovil earn a point.
