Glovers battle for point

Battling Yeovil came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw after Jon Macken scored a brilliant opener for Walsall.

In a lively match both sides created chances and it was the Saddlers who struck first in the 19th minute.

Will Grigg won the ball in his own half and found Claude Gnakpa with a lovely through-ball which the winger switched into the path of Macken, who scored with a drive which swerved just inside the right-hand post.

But Gavin Williams equalised when he collected Paul Wotton's pass and fired past his former West Ham team-mate Jimmy Walker four minutes before the interval.

Macken had a chance to score his second after 58 minutes but his shot lacked strength and was deflected for a corner.

In a desperate finish Walsall substitute Alex Nicholls had one shot well saved by Jed Steer and another substitute, Ryan Jarvis volleyed wide, from close-in while Walker had to save well from Yeovil sub Antony Edgar.
