The long-serving coach was in charge for the first time since the controversial dismissal of Russell Slade on Monday.[LNB]Asked whether he would continue at the helm for Saturday's League One game at home to Oldham, Thompson said: "I simply don't know. I have only had a chance to talk to the board about this match.[LNB]"I was told I would be in charge and I did ask if anyone was poised to come in as manager quickly. That doesn't seem to be the case.[LNB]"I will talk to the board again. Whether I want the job myself is a matter to discuss with my family and the club and I am not prepared to comment at this stage. It has been a difficult few days because Russell is a good friend, a good man and an excellent manager.[LNB]"But I felt the players couldn't be faulted for effort. We matched Rovers in most areas and were just undone by failure to defend set-pieces."[LNB][LNB]
