Skiverton rues lost opportunity

Yeovil manager Terry Skiverton thought his side were deserving of victory following their 1-1 draw with Huddersfield but has admitted that his side need to tighten up at the back. The Glovers made the running throughout the first half and it was no surprise when Andy Williams held off the challenge of two defenders to shoot them ahead in the 49th minute. However, they could not sufficiently capitalise on Lee Peltier's 13th-minute dismissal and Antony Kay levelled for Huddersfield by heading home a right-wing corner from Anthony Pilkington in the 58th minute. Skiverton said: "We had the chances and I thought one goal would be enough. We knew that if we gave them chances from set plays it could give us problems and when they got the goal it came from a corner that could have been cleared for a throw-in. "These things go against you when you are down at the bottom but it turned out to be an important point for us, especially as a couple of the other teams around us drew as well so didn't claw back on us. "I am disappointed because of the way the game petered out in the second half. We didn't get our passing going like we did in the first half. We got a bit tippy-tappy and the pitch played a part. It was disappointing to be playing 10 men and not putting pressure on them in the second half."
