Skiverton blasts Glovers

Yeovil manager Terry Skiverton admitted his side simply failed to turn up after Hartlepool won 2-0 with goals from Gary Liddle and Andy Monkhouse. Pools took the lead on the half hour when an inswinging corner from Evan Horwood was headed home by defender Liddle and Monkhouse doubled their advantage after 54 minutes with a fine shot from distance. Skiverton said: "We should have given them the three points. We didn't turn up. It was one of the worst performances under me, especially at home. It stands out a mile when we don't play well after the way we have been playing. "We have got a lot of young players out there. For the first time under my management I thought the crowd turned on us a little early. Young players need a bit of confidence but it was a flat atmosphere. "Hartlepool's formation caused us a lot of problems and I think I should have brought on Andy Welsh in the first half. "We looked toothless. I am writing it off as a one-off - that level of commitment. They beat us to the second ball every time. "They won headers up front, midfield and at the back. You can't be bullied like that especially at home. and unfortunately it was a pitiful performance."
