Mozika at the double for Iron

A brace of goals from midfielder Damien Mozika helped Scunthorpe to their first win of the season as Yeovil were beaten 2-1 at Glanford Park.

But it was the visitors who bossed the opening 45 minutes and they will be left to rue not taking their chances.

Striker Kieran Agard forced a good early save from goalkeeper Sam Johnstone but then missed a sitter when his shot struck a post with the goal at his mercy.

It was against the run of play when Mozika put the home side in front in the 44th minute, firing home from close range after a good ball into the box by Eddie Nolan. Garry Thompson might have made it 2-0 in the next attack with a shot that was blocked on the line.

But in first-half stoppage time Yeovil levelled from the penalty spot through skipper Paul Wotton after the lively Agard had been tripped in the box by Paul Reid.

Scunthorpe improved in the second half and went back in front after 53 minutes when Nolan again set up a chance for Mozika to finish with an excellent shot from the edge of the box.

Oliver Norwood came close to making it 3-1 with a terrific long-range effort that was turned onto the crossbar by goalkeeper Jed Steer.

In the closing stages, it took a good save by Johnstone to prevent Yeovil from snatching a late equaliser through former Scunthorpe striker Steve MacLean.
