Rovers go down to Glovers defeat

08 August 2009 18:41
The Glovers used eight new signings in the clash, and one of them - Dean Bowditch - opened the scoring before Gavin Tomlin added a second from the penalty spot. Rovers' intricate passing got them nowhere early on and the danger signs were out when Bowditch had a shot cleared off the line by Ash Taylor in Yeovil's most dangerous early attack. Bowditch - an arrival from Ipswich - broke the deadlock after 23 minutes with a well-placed header from Andy Welsh's left-wing corner. Yeovil's new goalkeeper Alex McCarthy had little to do, while, at the other end, Luke Daniels was always under pressure. The second goal, long threatened, came from the penalty spot after 75 minutes when Ryan Mason was brought down by Aaron Cresswell and Tomlin hammered a low penalty in off the keeper's right-hand post.
