Monkhouse rescues point for Pools

In a terrible spectacle of a first half, neither side got to grips with the icy conditions but the visitors took the lead shortly after the half-hour mark with the game's first attack.[LNB]Craig Alcock's cross was chested down by Dean Bowditch into the path of strike partner Sam Williams who sent a low volley across Scott Flinders into the far side of the net.[LNB]Shaun Macdonald forced a smart save from Flinders on 46 minutes, before visiting keeper Alex McCarthy came into his own as he twice in the space of five minutes denied Adam Boyd.[LNB]But McCarthy was beaten on 67 minutes when Antony Sweeney found Boyd who crossed in for Monkhouse at the far post to squirm the ball in from an angle.[LNB]Monkhouse should have won it for Pool on 87 minutes when Armann Bjornsson headed into his path, but he blazed his volley wayward.[LNB][LNB]
