Gary Johnson says his dreams have come true after he lifted his beloved Yeovil into the npower Championship for the first time in their history, just 10 years after taking them out of non-league football.
First-half goals from Paddy Madden and Dan Burn earned a Yeovil side with one of the smallest budgets in League One a 2-1 win over Brentford in the play-off final and a place in Glovers folklore.
"We all visualised winning at Wembley and that's what we did," he said.
"My dreams have come true. Of course it means so much to me. Any achievement like this is fantastic. In football this is what you are in it for, especially when you've built it all up for 50-odd games and nine months. It has brought us closer together and made the club bigger and I am just very proud of the football club.
"It ranks very highly and sometimes you think this only happens to other people."
Brentford fought back in the second half, scoring a consolation goal through Harlee Dean before throwing caution to the wind in an attempt to force extra-time but, despite the bombardment, Johnson said he kept cool and confident throughout and dedicated the victory to the unsung heroes at Huish Park.
"My blood pressure was normal, I really did feel cool and calm," he revealed. "It was important to do that and they can't hear you out there anyway because both sets of supporters were giving it a go. I trust them so much and I just let them get on with it.
"This is for the whole club, the directors, our families and the players, the supporters and everyone who works at the club who has done a fantastic job over the last 10 years.
"They are unsung heroes and I am very pleased for them because they have stuck to it and they all entered into this commitment and this ambition to get to the Championship and they believed it."
Brentford boss Uwe Rosler believed his side deserved an equaliser in the second half but admitted nerves got the better of some of his squad. "Some players were overwhelmed, especially at the beginning of the game," he said. "Our game didn't function as it should then the goal killed it even more in terms of confidence."
