Hartlepool 3-1 Yeovil: Report

Pools make it a treble Hartlepool beat Yeovil for the third time this season with a comfortable 3-1 win at Victoria Park. After winning at Huish Park in August and knocking the Glovers out of the FA Cup, Pools made it a straight-forward treble. However, Yeovil took the lead after 10 minutes with a stunning strike. Jon Obika turned and hooked a volley from 30 yards over goalkeeper Scott Flinders into the top corner of the net. The advantage only lasted eight minutes, though, as Evan Horwood's corner was not cleared by Adam Virgo and Adam Boyd latched onto the loose ball to crash home his first goal since August. Pools had to wait until the 62nd minute for their second goal, skipper Sam Collins meeting a Leon McSweeney corner to send a low shot through a crowded penalty area and into the net. And substitute Colin Larkin had only been on the pitch a matter of seconds when he scored with his first touch, knocking a low shot in at the near post to secure the points.
